The Next Generation of InDesigner
If it takes me a while to answer your e-mails, or if you’re wondering why you don’t see me on iChat or AIM…there’s a very good reason why: this beautiful little girl who was born on September 26, 2008 at 11:31 pm. This is my daughter, Brenna Clare Murphy, and she and her mother are doing wonderfully.
I thought I’d “frame” this photo in a manner appropriate for the web site. 🙂

Dear Michael and family,
may Brenna (lovely name actually) bring you a lifetime of joy and laughs.
Enjoy the baby years ’cause they come only once!
Don’t worry about the podcasts, this gives everyone the chance to re-visit old podcasts and search for nuggets missed last time. – that’s what I’m going to do!

Hi Michael
Congratulations to all!
It seems that your days as a teacher are only now really beginning. Will the forthcoming podcasts all have a nursery theme?

Wow…this is just such an amazing response. I can’t wait, someday, to show little Brenna how many wonderful, thoughtful people from around the world took the time to welcome her into it. Thanks, everyone. I will see if I can further tug on everyone’s heartstrings by working her into the intro of Episode 52. 🙂

Another huge Aussie congrats to you Mike and family!!!
Wow – how inDesign, etc, pales in comparison to the old-fashioned, human-being kind of technology…

Congratulations to you and your family.
Your tutorials have helped me so much – I look forward to some day seeing one that features your beautiful girl! She’s got a great Dad.
October 9th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Congratulations on the successful Data Merge!
Just wait until she figures out Automation, then she will start Design(ing) ways to get into your Designer’s Bookshelf. She’ll eventually get into all of your Document Set-up, and Graphics & Images. She’ll begin GREP(ing) things she shouldn’t and you would wish she would stop all of the Interactivity and just Layout and goto sleep.
Gone are the days of Long Documents as you will only have time for quick News/Announcements before you are pulled a way in another direction!
Other Software will take on a new meeting as you change diapers.
Podcasts-Audio and Podcasts-Video will now feature the sounds of little footsteps in the background and we can look forward to your Printing & Production tutorials to feature a new face. (Thanks goodness she is absolutly adorable!)
Your Productivity is going to drop don’t let anyone tell you different, because you will be busy passing Show Notes and photo ablums to all your friends and family featuring the latest Styles and outfit you and your wife dressed her in!
So you have traded in InDesign Tables for changing tables but I hope you can understand my Transparency. All my best to you Type & Text us all about your adventures
All my best and thanks for all the help you have given through your tutorials.
Uncategorized and undefinable,
Jerry

Wow, Jerry! If there had been a contest for best response. Outstanding! You made my day with this. Thanks for the kind wishes and the amount of time it must have taken to craft this one. 🙂 — Michael

Hello. I discovered this fantastic site only recently, and I’ve thought of send you a message, to express how much I’ve enjoyed watching your fantastic and helpful videocasts, but I always have something else to do, and never sent the message.
But today I’ve seen the picture of your lovely daughter and I remembered how proud I was when my little girl was born (I´m still proud, after 22 years!). And thought: now, I really have to send the message, to wish you best luck! With the daughter and all the rest!
Thank you for teaching and help us so much!
Best wishes from your family, from Portugal (a very little and sunny country in the end of Europe).

Been a while since you posted, and that is a good sign considering your circumstance. Hope you are getting new inspiration every day.
Just remember others can do your tasks but no one can be what you are. You are a father and that is a devine gift and responsibility. (And I susspect there is an equally if not more proud mother 😉 ) Hope you grow with the task, and get as much inspiration as you have inspired others.

Michael — I routinely check your site each day, and each day I see that beautiful photo of Brenna. Hope this isn’t too weird, but I wanted to thank you for NOT producing another episode (in the hope that you’re spending your extra time helping care for your daughter)!
